We Heart Fall!
Chris and I both love fall. I think Chris' love is deeply rooted in his favorite sport, but we both enjoy the cooler weather, bonfires, changing leaves and outdoor activities. Some of our favorites are the apple orchard and the pumpkin farm. Both have become family traditions that we look forward to each year. This year we headed to the local apple orchard with Chris' family in time for our favorite apples - Golden Delicious. And let me tell you, they are delicious! We picked over 40 lbs. of apples, which took no time at all with lots of little hands picking away. I have made a couple of apple desserts and even tried making homemade apple butter, which was a big hit with the kiddos. Nothing says fall to me like a crisp day of apple picking. We finished our day with a little apple cider slushy - delish!
Last week, on our way home from a wedding in Michigan, we stopped by at a local cider mill to do a little pumpkin picking. We didn't realize that their hayrides to the patch didn't start until later in the day, but that didn't keep up from enjoying some wonderful homemade pumpkin donuts, warm apple cider and picking out some beautiful pumpkins from ones they had near their store. They also had some crazy goats we could pet, as an added bonus.
Smile if you love fall!!
