Family Fun at the Zoo
This last weekend, the girls and I piled in our van along with my brother, Kevin and headed to my parents house for the weekend. It is rare that we could all be together and we had an absolute blast. Saturday we spent playing around at my parents house. They live on a beautiful private lake and the girls love running around the yard, watering Mamaw's plants and playing with all of my childhood dolls. Olivia even took several steps while at my parents house! After putting the kids to bed, the adults sat around the bonfire and chatted the rest of the evening. It has been a long time since just the four of us had the opportunity to do that, and it warmed my heart.

Ah, this is the life - lawn chair, juice box and a cool breeze from the lake.

Avery and Mia rode the Gator until it was dead!
On Sunday, we got up to the smell of mom cooking us a pancake breakfast before we headed out to the Fort Wayne Zoo. I LOVE the Fort Wayne Zoo and was so excited to be heading back to the zoo that was such a wonderful part of my childhood. It was a wonderful day and the girls had a lot of fun. We were a bit surprised by how excited Olivia was when she saw the animals. Avery became known as the Animal Whisper during the day because the animals seemed particularly drawn to her, often looking right at her, and even playing little games with her. Mia kept Uncle Kevin and my dad busy, moving between each of them begging to be held (even though I had the stroller for her.) I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story...

Avery riding with Uncle Kevin on the sky ride. Avery and Mia playing African drums together.

Mia and Olivia playing with the mongoose. Olivia getting up close and personal with an ostrich.

Avery (aka The Animal Whisper) talking to a giraffe and riding a pony all by herself.

Uncle Kevin, Avery, Mia and my Dad in the steamy jungles of Africa! Family shot on a Komodo dragon.

Mia riding a pony all be herself. Mamaw pushing the crew through the rain forest.

Olivia loved the otters. She squealed with excitement. Family picture on the train!

Uncle Kevin protecting Mia from the crazy goats. Mia and Avery brushing one of the goats.
**As a side note, poor Chris had to stay home and do chores and homework. No fun for a Daddy in school
We missed him terribly!
