Kindergarten / Preschool Send Off

Today was the big day!  We officially have a kindergartener!!!  This week has been busy between the school ice cream social, kindergarten orientation and a parent's meeting, I was at the school three times within 24 hours.  Whew!  Avery did have anxiety about the first day, along with riding the bus, but she did so awesome!  We have said so many prayers about this day.

Along with Avery starting her first day of kindergarten, Mia also started back to the Early Childhood preschool today.  Now both girls are at the same school (which they think it totally cool!).  We had two buses to catch, and wouldn't you know, they both came at the same time.  We are going to have to work that out because Avery's bus stop is at the corner, and Mia's bus stop is in front of our house.  There was no time for tears this morning as we ran from bus to bus, trying to take pictures.

The house was eerily quite this morning, but not for long.  I had a Weepy Moms Breakfast for all of us mommies that were sending our kids off to school today.  I am so glad I did because I think I would have sat in the house and cried the whole time if not.  What a blessing to have such wonderful friends to share our anxieties together.  I was reminded again and again that we first we give our children roots, and then we give them wings.  Here's to your first flight, Avery!!!

Avery writing her name during orientation.  Yesterday they had a shortened class where parents came along.  We had stations to do so that the kids could familiarize themselves with the classroom.

Avery in the far right corner, listening to her teacher read "Mrs. Bendergarten's First Day of Kindergarten."

The girls requested "Daddy's World Famous Grilled French Toast" for breakfast.  Daddy happily complied  Chris was able to stay home and enjoy breakfast with us this morning, along with seeing the girls off on the bus.

Gotta have a picture in front of the house on the first day of school!

Avery getting on the bus.  She looked a little nervous after she got on, but no tears.  When she got home she admitted that she didn't know "big kids" would be on there.  She said "I love the bus.  I want to ride it everyday."

Mia is an old pro at the bus.  She was excited to see her favorite bus driver.
