Our Little Monkey

Well, as many of my fellow readers may remember, Olivia recently had her First Steps evaluation to determine if she would need services.  This last week I got her report and had our first IEP meeting, where it was decided Olivia needed physical therapy once a week.  She is behind on several gross motor skills and has some poor foot form that we are hoping to correct.  I couldn't help feeling a bit disappointed that we would need to intervene, but also grateful that we live in state with such wonderful services.  (Plus I have missed Tracey, Mia's First Steps PT, so I instantly requested her again!)

The funny thing is, in the last two weeks, Olivia has suddenly started doing all sorts of things.  She started clapping at the Indian's game last week, and climbing up the first step of our stairs.  Today she had a crazy burst of energy and while at a friends house, she climbed onto a chair, up on a picnic table, up six steps, pulled to stand up on several things and even rolled over from her back to her belly, all things she has never done! (And yes, she kept me VERY busy today!)  It was so amazing to watch her suddenly do all of these things.  We will see what happens when therapy starts, but after today, I am feeling quite optimistic!

Olivia hard at work.  She usually has her tongue out when she is really concentrating.

The girls taught Olivia how to car dance.  She gets so excited and even tries to sing.
