Walking for Dream

In honor of the inaugural Dandy Walker Awareness month in May (see previous post), we are inviting each and every one of you to join us in the 2009 Walking for Dream Family & Pet Walk.  I have established a team, Dandy Walker Awareness Team, and we would love to have your support.  Our goal is to raise $500, so we are going to need you help.

Here's what you can do:

  1. Walk with us and raise money through pledges from your family and friends.  The walk is May 31st at 2 p.m. at the Downtown Canal.  Our whole family will be there and it should be a fun time together
  2. Donate to the cause.  You can either send money to me or you can go to https://www.walkingfordreams.org/Donate.aspx.  Make sure you select my name.
  3. Pray for Mia and other children and families that are affected by Dandy Walker.

Many of you know that Mia does specialized therapy using horses, called hippotherapy, at a place called TherAPlay, but what many of you don't know is that to afford this crucial, yet expensive, therapy, Chris and I use a subsidiary program.  Each hour long therapy session costs $180 (whew!) and insurance only covers a small portion of this fee.  Mia goes once a week, so that is over $8,000 a year in therapy sessions.   We are blessed that we were approved for the subsidiary which helps keep our out-of-pocket expenses lower.  This walk will help raise money for TherAPlay for us and other families who rely on this subsidiary program to help our children receive the therapy they need.

Thank you for thinking of us and helping us celebrate the beautiful children with Dandy Walker.
