Spring, Chocolate and Art... Oh My!
So I am feeling rather "bloggy" today, so I thought I would share the rest of our day. I am sure that most parents can understand a day like today - where there isn't anything really different about the day, but that somehow it was a really good day. It's not that the children were extra good, but I think I was just more patient today than others. I can't put my finger on it, other than I love days like this.
During nap time today, I opened up the windows in the kitchen and enjoyed the nice breeze. It was the only sound in the house. The sun was shining and all felt right. I decided to stay in the kitchen and whip up some chocolate chip cookies. Chris and I were watching Friends last night and it was the episode where they are trying to figure out Phoebe's grandmother's secret cookie recipe so that Monica can have it. In the end they find out it was the Nestle Tollhouse recipe. I have had cookies on my mind since then. The girls were excited to wake up to the aroma of baking cookies. You can see, Mia really enjoyed them, hot and gooey right out of the oven.

Later in the afternoon, the girls went to a community art class held at our local park. It is for the next month and they were quite excited about it. This is the first extra-circular activity Mia has been a part of, so she wasn't quite sure what to do. Three of Avery's friends also took the class, so that made the class even more fun (they are Mia's friends too!). They learned how to draw a cat tonight. Most of the kids were around 5-years-old and could easily follow the instructions. Mia was the youngest and struggled a bit with her drawing, but I think it was still good for her. They are already excited for next week, and their pictures turned out great! We did get a chance to play at the park for a few minutes before class started. I have been longing for spring, so today was like medicine for the soul.

It was so nice to get outside for a bit. We love going to the park!!!
