Pumpkin Patch Field Trip
On Monday, Avery had a field trip to a local pumpkin patch. I let her decide if Mia should go, and she decided that she shouldn't (oh, the sisterly love!). I did ask if Olivia could go since she was still nursing and she agreed, so the three of us ventured off while Mia stayed with one of my friends. I have been on several field trips with Avery in preschool and this was by far the best one. The staff at the pumpkin patch were very good with younger kids and Avery actually learned quite a bit while having fun. I got to meet all of Avery's friends, which she introduced me to, of course. She has such a gift of hospitality!
At the end of the field trip, she decided that it "wasn't fair" that Mia didn't get to go. I told her we are going to the pumpkin patch together as a family on Saturday and that it was ok that she didn't want her to go - that sometimes we need time away from the ones we love. She was quite for a bit then said "I won't go on Saturday with the family so that Mia can have special time away from me!" I have had to convince her that she can go with us on Saturday.

Avery plays ring-around-the-rosy with her girl classmates!

Avery cuddles on the hayride with my wonderful friend, Andrea, and some of her classmates.

Avery pets Connie, the hen. We learned that the color of a hens ear lobes tell you what color of eggs they lay. We got to see white and brown eggs, but also blue eggs.
I guess they all taste the same, even the blue chicken eggs.

Ahh, the perfect pumpkin!

Oh this cracked me up that Avery thinks Mia might need some special time away from her! What a sweet big sister
