Spring Fun - Rain or Shine!

On Friday, it was a rather dreary day and the girls and I had not a thing to do.  This is rare in our typically crazy schedule, but Chris and I are trying a new budget and I didn't want to spend any money either.  So, I remembered the craft bin the girls got for Christmas.  My sister-in-law came up with the wonderful idea of buying a large bin filled with craft supplies.  Some of the items are loose, every day kind of craft things, and them some are put into ready-to-make kits.  I don't know who loves it more, me or the girls.  But we found a kit to make decoupage heart boxes.  This involved a lot of gluing (a big hit with the girls) and lots of cutting too.  It took us almost an hour to make them but the girls had so much sticky fun.  The girls use them to put little treasures in now.  They are so proud of them.

Then, to get out of the house for a bit, we packed our lunches and visited Chris at work.  We had been trying to do lunch for several months, but this worked out great.  First off, it was free, and the girls were able to see Daddy's work place and his "friends."  We had made cookies the day before so Avery passed out cookies to people around the office.  She thought that was a lot of fun.

On Saturday, it was my birthday (the big 28!) and I had the day off so to say.  Chris surprised me with pastries and tea in the morning.  Yum!  And yes, the girls drink tea with me in the mornings (You gotta start them young.  Tea drinking is in their genes!).  I spent the morning at the fabric store and touring around all the little shops in downtown Noblesville.  I had been wanting to do this since we moved here, but most of the stores are filled with antiques and various other breakables so I didn't want to take the girls.  It was quite relaxing.  I also finished the back of the baby quilt when I got home.  It is off to the quilters!

Then that afternoon, we had family time.  We planted some flowers in various pots and then headed off to the park.  This is the first year Mia has been able to walk around the park so she was very excited to try everything out.  We were quite impressed by how well she could climb up on things.  And of course, Avery had a lot of fun running around and going down the big slides.  It was a beautiful day.

Yesterday my parents came for a visit and treated us all out to lunch.  My brother was able to come too, so it was great to have everyone together.  My mom had just gone to a quilt show, so more quilting surprises for me!  Yeah!  Although, next on the project list is a wall hanging for the baby's room and maybe some summer dresses for the girls.

We are loving the nice weather! Yeah for spring!!!!  But of course with that comes the rain, which is supposed to hit us tomorrow.  Perhaps another craft day.  Avery is on Spring Break this week, so we have tomorrow free too - woohoo!  I love it when we can just play.

Oh, here is a random picture for my husband and his beloved dog, Bogey.  She never takes good pictures, so we were trying to get a good one with the beautiful sun.  Doesn't she look pretty?
