Mia's First Hippotherapy
Mia had her first hippotherapy session on Wednesday afternoon. Since it was her first time at Ther-A-Play, the session was more like an evaluation. We played in the therapy room for a bit while I gave a medical history to her new therapist, Megan. Megan has another patient who has Dandy Walker. It was so refreshing to have someone know and understand Mia's diagnoses. After watching Mia play and having her try a few things, she was introduced to Gideon, her horse. She put on her helmet with such excitement. There was no fear at all. She rode the horse both forwards and backwards, before dismounting to pet and love on Gideon. She loved it and talked about it the rest of the night! It was so nice to have her love therapy! She kept telling me she wanted to do it again. Avery did have a little jealous watching Mia get to ride the horse, but hopefully she will be able to attend their Sibling Camp this summer and get an experience of her own. Here are some pictures and a quick video. They are all taken on my phone, so they are not the best quality.
