Super Bowl, Baby and Girls
The weekend ended just right ... with the Patriots losing the Super Bowl. Could anything be more satisfying than seeing Tom Brady being beat by another Manning? Woo-hoo! We had our annual Super Bowl party and it was a lot of fun. Chris was able to debut his new projector screen to accolades from family and friends. We actually fit 12 adults in our loft area quite comfortably. The kids played pretty well in the playroom, where we had setup a DVD player along with the usually playroom toys. And of course, there was tons of yummy food to snack on. It is always a fun little get together.
Then on Monday I got up earlier than I have since I have been a stay-at-home mom. Yep, I got up at 6 a.m. to make it to a dentist appointment at 7 a.m. What was I thinking? After the dentist appointment, I ran home, helped get the kiddos dressed and the whole family headed over to the Community North campus for our first specialist appointment. We had a length ultrasound, which was very neat. The baby got riled up a couple of times and started kicking his/her feet. It was cute. The baby seems to like having his/her hands by their face, which you can see in the ultrasound picture. It kind of looks like he/she might be a thumb-sucker
Avery really seemed to enjoy seeing the ultrasound this time since the baby actually looked like a baby, rather than a little a gummy bear. This ultrasound was very high-tech so everything was quite clear. Anyway, the specialist said things are looking really good. We are doing a few extra tests and taking a few extra precautions, but right now things seem to be very normal. I suppose one of the best things about having a higher-risk pregnancy is you get a lot of ultrasounds. I just finished my first trimester and have already had four!
The girls are doing great. Mia is being a very normal 2 1/2 year-old (read = mood swings, frustrations and lots of pretend play and silliness). She has her hippotherapy evaluation next week and actually gets to ride the horse for a little bit. I am anxious to see how she will react. Avery continues to mature and impress me with her ability to soak up all kinds of knowledge. She recently took and interest in dwarfism after watching a Discovery Health documentary with me one night. It is rather cute because one of the girls on this documentary was named Dasha. She is a dwarf, adopted into an all dwarf family and suffers from severe autism. Avery is drawn to her and wants to name our baby Dasha now. I tried to find a kids book at the library on dwarfism so we could read more at home, but the only thing in the kids section I could find included a fare young maiden by the name of Snow White. Not really what I was looking for. Oh well, I promised Avery I would TiVo any future dwarf shows for her.

What great news! I also got the email.. I am so happy for you and your beautiful family.

Have you seen "Little People Big World" on TLC?

Yes, I watch it all the time, but some of the stuff on there is more teenage-type silliness that I am not sure Avery needs to see just yet. Most of the time, it is pretty good, but more reality TV. The do dwarfism stuff on TLC and Discovery Health all the time so I am sure I can find something else.
