Friends, Family and Baby Items!
This past weekend was so relaxing and fun. We started off on Friday having our friends, the Coffings, over for dinner. They have three children - a 2nd grader, a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old. The kids had so much fun playing while the adults were able to do some much-needed catching up. The Coffings brought over their Wii too. I have never played one and it was quite fun. Avery loved it too and is now begging for one. We also got our first baby present - a little onsie with "boy vibes." The Coffings had two girls first too, so they know the pressure of having a boy. We will see... For those of your that don't know, Matt is Chris' childhood friend. They have known each other since birth. And Shannon, his wife, watched Avery as an infant when I returned to work. They welcomed Avery into their home and loved her as one of their own. It was a huge blessing knowing that Avery was getting just as much love from Shannon while I was away, as she would be getting if I was at home. Shannon will always have a special place in Avery's heart as her other mommyThen on Saturday my parents came for a visit. My dad had his first Saturday off in probably 25 years! He just bought a food dehydrator so he brought us some yummy samples. The dried pineapple was awesome! Then we headed off to Costco (to get more pineapple!) and then out to dinner at Max and Erma's. It was a delicious treat and the girls got to spend a lot of time playing with their grandma and grandpa.
Then yesterday we basically relaxed all day. After church we had family nap time and it was great. I especially enjoyed it since I have been very tired lately.
In other news, Chris has been working very hard on remodeling our loft area. It is looking really good and he has done such a great job. Other than taping the room, I have not been of any help because we didn't want me around the paint fumes. I have felt guilty about sitting downstairs watching TV while he has been staying up late painting, but he said he doesn't mind. Now all we have to do is get that big hole in the ceiling fixed and it will look like a new room.
I also purchased my first baby item this week. I have been envious of this product since my girlfriend, Jessalyn, used one with her little girl. It is called a Hooter Hider (I know, what a name!), and it is a nursing cover that it light-weight and allows you to see the baby without anyone seeing you. It may sound silly, but I was really excited to get this in the mail this week. I am planning on nursing and since it has been awhile (Mia never nursed), I am trying to prepare myself again. I think this new baby is going to be a bigger adjustment for us than what we think, simply because Mia did not go through a lot of the "normal" baby stages. We have really never had to baby proof the house, because she simply has never been that curious. And her feeding was and still is abnormal. We will have been almost 5-years removed from some of this stuff. Plus, what is "normal" and what is not is very skewed in our minds now, so I am not sure I even know what to expect. Ha-ha! Sounds funny, but Mia's experience really changes your perspective on a lot of things. With that in mind, we go to a maternal fetal specialist on February 4th to start monitoring both the baby and myself. This just may turn out to be a very long pregnancy...

I made one of these for myself (copied from the Hooter Hiders website...) and used it a LOT with Elise. You'll love it!

Yeah, I could definately make the next one. I wanted to see how this woman made them. I don't know what she used as the bendable wire around the next though. And the matching lined bag is just too cute and fun. I am sure I will be making some of these in my future...
