Halloween Festivities

We enjoyed another fun-filled, jam-packed weekend.  The theme for this weekend was Halloween fun.

We started off on Friday night by heading downtown to Zoo Boo.  This is an annual event at the zoo where kids dress in their costumes, go around to candy stations and see the animals.  The girls were quite excited and after getting them all dressed-up and the car packed, I realized the clouds in the sky were a little dark for such an event.  We decided to continue on our way.  Papaw Jerry and Pamaw met us there and we had a brief (about enough time to take a few cute pictures) break in the rain.  The rest of Zoo Boo we got rained on.  It didn't dampen the girls spirits though.  We enjoyed a quick round to the candy stations (conveniently moved to one pavilion), a few games and a little shark petting before heading over to TGIFridays for dinner.  The girls were excited that Papaw and Pamaw were able to join us on this rainy evening.

On Saturday morning, we had a little detour in the fun.  Avery's pediatrician had ordered blood work almost four weeks ago and I have continually put it off.  Avery has seen Mia give blood and after the drama that ensued during flu shots, I had to prepare myself (both mentally and physically).  After some coaxing out of the house, Avery did wonderful.  We did have to restrain her a bit, but there was no fighting.  She was a brave little girl.

Saturday evening we headed over to rock paper scissors for dinner and music.  (This is the cafe/art center in Greendfield that my brother-in-law and sister-in-law have helped start up.)  It was a wonderful evening.  Since it is also an art center, the girls enjoyed coloring, drawing and painting, while we enjoyed coffee.  And the food was delicious.  I would highly recommend a visit to Greenfield for this one.  (And no, I am not partial.  It really was fantastic!).

To finish off our weekend of festivities, we headed to the pumpkin patch after church on Sunday.  We tried a new one this year and the girls seemed to really enjoy it.  Besides the hayride out to the patch for pumpkin selection, there were pony carts, mini golf, corn mazes, bull lassoing and lots of cute animals to see.  Nothing says pumpkin patch like the shrills of a turkey in the background.  It was a beautiful day and it felt great to be outdoors.

Ok, so I am a little crazy for fall.  The fun continues as we gear up for trick-or-treating....

I promise I didn't copy your title (I just now got finished writing our Halloween-y Festivities blog!). Looks like you guys had so much fun this weekend, despite the rain on Fri. I'm glad Avery did so well with the bloodwork too. The girls' costumes turned out TOO cute!!!
