Field Trip and Family

We have been running around all over the place this last week, enjoying the beautiful start to fall (and unfortunately, saying goodbye to summer).  Last Thursday Avery had a school field trip to an apple orchard.  This one was different from the one we went to the previous weekend.  We didn't pick any apples this time, but we learned about how bees make honey, how to grind up corn and make it into cornbread, and how to make apple cider.  We ended the trip with a tour around the farm on a wagon.  It was a nice field trip and Avery enjoyed getting to see her friends from school.

Then on Saturday we headed to my parents house for one last boating adventure.  It was a relaxing little day trip and Mia got to enjoy her first boat ride.  We thought she would not want to wear the life jacket, but she ended up being fine with it.  She loved the boat and kept asking to go back out on it again. Both of the girls enjoyed getting to see their Mamaw and Papaw.  We even ventured to the neighbors house, who just happen to have a monkey farm.  We saw about 10 different monkeys, including two babies.

Then on Sunday we headed over to Greenfield for the open house of Rock Paper Scissors.  My brother-in-law and sister-in-law have helped plan, organize, build and open a new coffee house and art center in downtown Greenfield.  It is beautiful inside and it was quite exciting to see all of it come together.  Their official opening was today, so I hope that they had a great first day.  They have both worked so hard on this.

After the open house, we headed over to my in-laws house for come catching up.  We enjoyed the evening watching the rest of the Colts game and eating pizza.  Both of the girls really liked playing with DJ (one of Jerry and Pam's cats).

It was a busy weekend but I am so glad we had a chance to spend time with family.
