Apple Picking Season

I love fall for so many reasons, but it seems like the one we get to enjoy first is apple picking.  Over the weekend we head to the apple orchard to enjoy a day at the orchard.  Jerry and Pam (my in-laws) were able to join us and even brought our niece, Geneva, too.  It was a lot of the fun and the girls had fun picking (and eating) apples.  One of the highlights was when Avery turned to Jerry and said, "Papaw, have you ever heard of apple pie?"  We ended up coming home with over 40 lbs of apples!  They are delicious!!!

Today, Avery and I made the aforementioned apple pie.  She peeled all the apples using our special peeler and even used an "adult" knife to cut them.  She loves to cook, although she kept sneaking bites of the uncooked dough while we were rolling it out.

This is the second blog entry I've read today about apple picking. It sounds like a blast! I'll have to find out where you went. By the way, your pie looks much cuter than the other blogger's...

Hi Cheryl. We have not talked since 2000, but I linked to your blog from Abby's and I'm happy to hear you are doing so well. It's so refreshing to read another mommy's point of view on motherhood. Andy and I have 13 month old now and you're right, motherhood is so wonderful but a true a learning experience. E-mail anytime!
