Genesis
You met me right where I was at.
In a simple verse about creation.
You knew I was grumpy,
But Your Word spoke right to my heart.
You reminded me of Your love,
That You do not abandon Your children.
You were there all the time,
But I let my self-pity blind my eyes.
You showed me the fig leaves
I was trying to hide behind.
You forgave me for trying to blame
Someone else for my feelings.
I tried to know You second-hand,
My self-righteousess gripping me tight.
Thank You for Your grace,
You love and Your compassion.
