Longing for a Vacation
Ok, so these last few days have not helped my spirits, but fortunately Chris was finally able to make me laugh last night
I found out today that I have strep throat so that would explain why I have been tired and feeling rather yucky. Hopefully I can get rid of this cold without and move on to better days.
Yesterday my mom came for a quick visit and then we headed off to the airport. She was on her way to Florida to help her parents celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The only problem was that it decided to snow 5 inches during our drive. It took us over 2 hours in horrible driving conditions to get her to the airport and then we still had to drive home. Needless to say, it was a long day. Then we find out that mom barely got out of Indianapolis and then got stranded overnight in Cincinnati. Poor mom! She had an even longer day.
We survive the snow yesterday and made it home safely, but while I was out today trying to get to Walgreen's, I started to fish-tail real bad and the girls and I ended up in a steep ditch. The whole thing really shook me up. As we were headed for the ditch I thought there was no way we weren't going to flip over. Avery was screaming and I am trying to tell her to hold on as tight as possible. There were trees at the bottom of the ditch too. God was watching over us, and we descended into the ditch without a scratch on us or the Jeep. It came to a stop centimeters from the trees. Luckily a nice man was driving by and saw me crying hysterically and stopped to help. A tow truck was driving by and offered to pull me out. It took almost 30 minutes to get us out because the incline was so great. It has been quite a day. I am pooped.
In the end, I know I have been in a funk. But in the scheme of things, great things have been happening. Mia has recovered from pneumonia without hospitalization, Avery is healthy and we were not injured in our little "detour." Chris has had to put in some longer hours at work and he is struggling with a cold, so I know he is exhausted too. I have been of little help. But I am deciding to be over my mood... God is great and continues to take care of us. And as my aunt emailed me, I think we might always wonder if we are doing a good job, but that in itself probably makes us good parents.
